Eryn Rosenthal est chorégraphe, metteuse en scène et artiste engagée dans les pratiques sociales. Ses cours explorent l’écoute et l’empowerment, le jeu et la joie comme forces capables de transformer ce qui est possible lorsqu’on se réunit.
Son travail corporel examine des questions de démocratie, de tissu social, de rêves et de construction de sens dans des contextes locaux et internationaux, en collaboration avec des artistes et activistes du Chili, d’Afrique du Sud, d’Espagne et des États-Unis.
Eryn fait partie de réseaux internationaux d’échange d’enseignants en Contact Improvisation (CI), et enseigne au Freiburg Festival (DE), ECITE, Market Theatre Lab (SA), Universidad Complutense (ES), UMass-Amherst, entre autres, depuis 2003.
Sa pratique, sensible aux traumatismes, combine le CI, l’histoire orale, la poésie et la performance expérimentale pour explorer les dimensions intimes et historiques du changement socio-politique. Son projet en cours, The Doors Project, explore les transitions – politiques, sociales et personnelles – à travers des performances in situ dans des portes du monde entier. Elle est également co-directrice fondatrice du Sedimento Collaborative (Chili/NYC), développant Sediment: Studies in Movement and Memory.
Eryn a travaillé avec des artistes de danse tels que Sello Pesa, Tommy DeFrantz et Sol Picó, la poétesse Elizabeth Alexander, ainsi que la pionnière du théâtre documentaire Anna Deavere Smith.
Son travail de recherche et de performance a été récompensé par le Center for Artistic Activism pour son engagement sur le droit de vote aux États-Unis, ainsi que par une bourse Fulbright en Espagne et un Open Society Institute President’s Grant en Afrique du Sud, entre autres distinctions.
Elle a précédemment occupé le poste de professeure invitée King-Chávez-Parks et a été la première artiste en résidence pour le dialogue et l’inclusion à l’Université du Michigan.

Eryn Rosenthal is a choreographer, director and social practice artist. Her classes investigate listening and empowerment, play and joy as forces that shift what's possible when we come together. Eryn's body-based work examines questions of democracy and social fabric, dreams and meaning-making within local and international contexts, grounded in ongoing collaborations with artists and activists in Chile, South Africa, Spain, and the US. She is also proud to be an active member of international contact improvisation (CI) teacher exchange networks, teaching and facilitating at the Freiburg Festival (DE), ECITE, the Market Theatre Lab (SA), La Universidad Complutense (SP), UMass-Amherst and elsewhere since 2003. Eryn’s trauma-informed practice combines contact improvisation, oral history, poetry and experimental performance to examine intimate and historical aspects of socio-political change. Her ongoing series The Doors Project investigates transitions–political, social, personal– through site-based performance in different doorways around the world. She is also a founding co-director of the Sedimento Collaborative in Chile/NYC, co-developing Sediment: Studies in Movement and Memory.
Eryn has worked with dance artists Sello Pesa, Tommy DeFrantz, and Sol Picó; poet Elizabeth Alexander; and documentary theater pioneer Anna Deavere Smith. Eryn's research and performance have been recognized with awards from the Center for Artistic Activism for work on US voting rights, as well as a Fulbright Fellowship to Spain and an Open Society Institute President’s Grant to South Africa, among elsewhere. Eryn previously served as a King-Chávez-Parks Visiting Professor and inaugural Artist in Residence for Dialogue-Building and Inclusion Initiatives at the University of Michigan.
